Finished the book The Color Purple today.
今天看完了这本《紫色姐妹花》
I sat, lost for words, for a good ten minutes before I could get myself to realize the masterpiece I had just read was actually real and not just a figment of my imagination. This book is such a beautiful study of femininity and love and domestic violence and race; Alice Walked is a genius (I’m late to the club, I’m sure).
看完这本书，我安安静静的坐了十分钟，尝试着让自己从这本杰作中缓过神来。这本书真的是一本对于女性、爱情、家暴、种族等等的问题的美丽的解读；爱丽丝·沃克是一个天才（我来迟了我知道）。
The book is displayed in the form of letters, which are between Celie and God (or her sister Nettie, later), and tells the story of a tragic character and her eventual ending.
这本书是以信的方式呈现的，是通过女主Celie和上帝（和后面的妹妹Nettie）的话讲述了这一个一开始悲惨的人物以及她最终的结局。
In the story, the author Alice Walker chose to use a lot of dialect in Celie’s writing, which subtle told the reader that Celie hadn’t gotten a lot of education and that the times she was living in was degenerate and backwards. She is a tragic character who had been raped by her (they later find out he was her step-dad) dad, and even gave birth to two children but him, and then she grew up and was forced to marry a man who was both unfaithful and abusive. But her final ending in the story is that she found her peace and happiness, her family and her love, and she finally embraced herself.
故事中，作者选择用了很多方言来描写Celie，间接性的给读者看到了Celie的没有受过教育以及这个时代的堕落和落后。她是一个从小被（后来发现是继父）父亲强奸，还给这个父亲生下了两个小孩，长大后被迫嫁给一个对她实行家庭暴力出轨的男人，的悲惨人物，但是她的最终结局却是找到了自己的平静和快乐，找到了自己的情亲和爱情，和自己和解。
The book is such a masterclass on character, and every characters development is so evident and sensible in the book. The female characters in the book were so poignant, every one of them fighting against society’s restraints against them to become the person they were. Even if they seemed like they had been conquered by the unfairness of the world, they were still changing and fighting for themselves, if only more silently than before.
这本书的每一个角色都在书中出了明显的变化，每一个角色都有深入人心的改变和成长。书中的女性角色很有深度，每一位都是在反世俗，成为自己的女人。她们虽然一开始看起来都是普普通通甚至被社会磨平棱角的女人，但是她们也在自己默默的改变。
The book’s characterisation of God was also beautiful Shug tells Celie that God doesn’t exits in the Bible, and instead exists amongst everything. The trees, the bird, the wind outside, they are all symbols of God’s existence.
很欣赏书中对于上帝的描写。Shug跟Celie说，上帝不是存在于书中，而是存在于世间万物当中。外面的树，鸟，甚至是风都是上帝的存在。
Shug’s character is one of my personal favorites. She is a unconventional singer, who is made fun of (in the beginning) by everyone, and is said to be “unlike a woman,” and “cant even fulfil her womanly duties.” But she still lived her life the way she wanted to, and never gave up being herself. She date younger men, she traveled across the country in a tour, she discovered her bisexuality, she wore revealing clothing, she was everything a woman of the time (the WWII era) shouldn’t be. But she was healthy, and happy, and was the healthiest and happiest of all the female characters. Her family may not have been supportive, but she was hardworking and talented enough to become a well-known singer, and changed her own destiny.
Shug这个角色也真的精彩。一个从来玩世不恭的歌唱家，被各种人骂，说她不像女人，没有尽到女人的责任。但是她还是照样我行我素的生活着，一直都没有放弃做自己。她谈姐弟恋，全国巡演，发现自己的双性恋，穿衣露骨，就是那个时代（二战时代）女人最不应该成为的样子。但是她快乐，也健康，可以说是所有女性角色里面最快乐健康的了。虽然原生家庭不够好，但是她凭借自己的能力天赋和坚持，成为了一代歌后。
There is also this very brief description of a female missionary in Africa in the book, who was not only an English noblewoman, but also rich and white, and she chose to go to Africa for her studies rather than marry rich. The ironic and sad thing is, in Africa, because she was rich and powerful and independent, the people weren’t sure whether or not she was actually a woman, and one of the chiefs even tried to give her wives. How ironic is that: a woman who is rich, independent, of noble blood, and white, still having to hide to Africa to do what she wants, and even there is seen as a man.
书中还有一段很短很短对于非洲的一位女性传教士的描写，写到这位英国贵族血统的有钱的白人女性，为了不结婚可以干自己喜欢干的事情，到非洲去做自己的领导。最讽刺的是，在那里，因为她有钱有势还独立，当地的人都不确定她是不是女人，当地的领导甚至还给她送了几位老婆想要给她当报酬。这是多么讽刺啊：一个独立自强的女人，就算是白人，还是贵族，还是有钱人，都需要逃到非洲才可以做自己不结婚，在那里还需要被认为是男人。
The book’s commentary on women and race and domestic violence is far more extensive than this, but I think this is a book that one must sit down and read, and understand for one self. This is a book that I think everyone should read, an ironic yet realistic book.
这本书中对于女性和种族和家暴的讨论远远不止这些，但是我认为这本书需要自己去认认真真的看，静下心来理解。这是一本我建议所有人读的书，虽然讽刺但是真实。
Hopefully the stories in the book will happen less and less now.
希望有一天这本书中所发生的一切都不会再发生吧
